Care

How to care for a wrap through a Chicago winter

Short answer

Rinse road salt off regularly, hand wash when you can, keep pressure washers well back from edges, brush snow off with a soft brush, and never use an ice scraper on vinyl. Follow the film manufacturer's care guide, which we include with every install.

Rinse salt often

Road salt and brine sit on every surface through the season. Rinsing regularly keeps salt from dulling the laminate and building up at the edges.

Wash the right way

  • Hand washing with a mild soap is best.
  • Avoid brush-style automatic washes. Touchless washes are gentler.
  • If you pressure wash, keep the nozzle well back, use a wide spray, and don't aim at edges or seams. Your film maker's guide lists exact limits.

Snow and ice

  • Use a soft snow brush on wrapped panels.
  • Never use an ice scraper on vinyl. Let the defroster and heater do the work on glass with perforated film.
  • Don't chip ice off wrapped panels.

Watch the edges

If an edge lifts, call us early. A small fix now prevents water and salt from getting under the film.

Park smart when you can

Garage or covered parking reduces salt, sun, and freeze-thaw exposure and extends wrap life.
